How does one become a WannaBee?
Most folks I know, including myself, had their parents try to encourage their construction skills by building plastic models. In our family, that most highly desired model was almost always a naval vessel of some kind. After all, Dad was a sailor in the big war.
Those static models are dust magnets. Try to clean them and pretty soon parts break and it just does not look as good as you wanted it to look. Then time passes and one day you need to get rid of it. You find an old firecracker and fit it inside the hull. Then you sneak some matches out of the kitchen and you are off to the nearby creek or pond.
You torch the ship and shove it off to the deep water. Then you just back away and watch the billowing black smoke boil up from that formerly prized model. Boom! What's left of her is dropping down below the water. Now she is done!
All of a sudden you realize how much you enjoyed watching that ship sink! Congratulations! You just graduated to being a full blown WannaBee R/C Combat Warship Captain.
What is missing is a model you can control using a radio and of course for your personal pleasure you need other ships to send to Davy Jones' locker.
Welcome to our WannaBee site. We intend to place enough information here that soon when you drop in you will have enough information to actually be able to do real R/C Combat Warship battling.
Let's Start By Identifying National RC Combat Warship Organizations
1. International R/C Warship Combat Club, Inc. (IRCWCC):
Founded in 1978, the International R/C Warship Combat Club, Inc. (IRCWCC) is the original organization dedicated exclusively to promoting safety, good sportsmanship and fun in the hobby of radio controlled semi-scale model warship competition. Battery operated 1/144 scale models of warships which operated between 1905 and 1946 are constructed by members. They are equipped with gas powered “cannons” and maneuver in mock battles as they attempt to damage or sink their opponents.

Model Warship Combat (MWC), Inc. was founded in 1998 by a group of veteran model warship combat captains in order to provide a national organization dedicated to the safety, promotion, development and fun of R/C model warship combat. MWC, Inc. is organized as a 501(c)7 non-profit corporation registered in the State of Georgia. This status means MWC is unique among the other R/C warship combat clubs and allows MWC to provide its membership with certain services not available elsewhere. MWC Inc. also sanctions combat events across the country including an annual National Championship in July and supports local affiliated groups, known as chapters, within several regions of the country.
